My cover of a very beautiful song, Have I Told You Lately, from Van Morrison. A love song often played at weddings, Have I Told You Lately was originally written as a prayer to the Divine, and that's how I sing it.

LYRICS

[INTRODUCTION: INSTRUMENTAL]

Have I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there's no one else above you?
You fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do

For the morning sun in all it's glory
Greets the day with hope and comfort too
You fill my life with laughter
Somehow you make it better
Ease my troubles, that's what you do

There's a love that's Divine
And it's yours and it's mine
Like the sun.
At the end of the day
Let us give thanks and pray
To the One
The Great One

Have I told you lately that I love you?
Ah, have I told you lately that there's no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do

[INSTRUMENTAL]

There's a love that's Divine
And it's yours and it's mine
And it shines like the sun
At the end of the day
Let us give thanks and pray
To the One
To the Great One

Have I told you lately that I love you?
Oh, have I told you lately that there's no one else above you?
You fill my heart with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
Fill my life with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Key change. I lowered the key of the song three notes to better fit my voice.

Lyric changes. The original lyrics are beautiful, and I only made a couple of small changes.

The original lyrics use the unusual reference, "The One", to refer to God or the Divine. I like it! But because "The One" sounds a bit "theological", I repeated it in the slightly longer phrase, "The Great One", which is a phrase that the heart can resonate with and be moved by.

The original lyrics include the following passage:
At the end of the day
we should give thanks and pray
to the One

I like the sentiment. But the "should" sounds a little like proselytization. So I softened it to something more inviting than commanding (which is why it is commonly used in church services — "Let us pray", etc.):
At the end of the day
Let us give thanks and pray
to the One
