Most of Billy Joel's songs are piano-based soft rock. But this song is guitar-based, and the hard rock accompaniment presents a particular vocal challenge that I enjoyed: I have to sing with enough force that my voice is not drowned out by the loud electric guitars that are playing at the same time as I am singing!
